For the past three years, her Kylie Cosmetics had only sold its makeup online and briefly in pop up shops. But after signing an exclusive distribution deal with Ulta, the beauty retailer, Kylie Cosmetics was rolling its $29 lip kits—a matte liquid lipstick and matching lip liner—into Ulta’s 1,000-plus stores. And Jenner showed up to the Richmond Avenue Ulta in Houston to greet customers, sign autographs on lip kits and, of course, pose for selfies with her fans.
With all that saying Kylie has been named as an all-time self-made billionaire by Forbes magazine, and this is all happened because of her cosmetic range that she found three years ago. Along with that she made her pairing with Ulta. With Ulta’s mix of pricier prestige brands, like MAC Cosmetics, and cheaper selections, such as Nyx Professional Makeup, it has a larger footprint than that of its closest competitor, the more expensive Sephora.
Her cosmetic line, Kylie Cosmetics, made an estimate of $508 million in sales last year. Kylie, who owns 100 per cent of the company, said it was all due to the power of social media. The mother of one added that she had a strong reach on social media even before she started Kylie Cosmetics. And well, that they did help the young gun to achieve a lot soon.
